The City of Trail, Parks & Recreation Department will be recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – on Monday, September 30. Our office and all facilities will be closed this day to commemorate the tragic legacy of residential schools in Canada, and will re-open on Tuesday, October 1.
Traditionally, this date has been known as Orange Shirt Day. This national day is meant to recognize the tragic history of loss, and the lasting effects of Canada’s residential school system. It honours First Nations, Inuit and Métis residential school survivors, their families, and communities, as a vital part in the process of reconciliation.
